Hip Hop Literacy

Thursday, November 18, 2021 at 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
Rice Library 2nd Floor Reading Room

A workshop series focused on the process of making hip hop music and its similarities to formal research/writing.

Many students are not familiar with the process of research and formal writing but may be familiar with hip hop music. This program is a workshop series that will teach students about the similarities between the process of making hip hop music and traditional research/writing. Each workshop will focus on a specific item in the process of making hip hop music (i.e. sampling music). Students will also have the opportunity to get some hands-on experience in learning how to use a DJ turntable.
