The Counseling Center is committed to making the University of Southern Indiana a happy and healthy place for all students. While we serve students with individual and group appointments, we also offer wellness workshops (e.g., Stress Management, Healthy Relationships, and Navigating the Peaks and Valleys of Life) as another resource.
One of the primary aims of this workshop is for students to better understand the origins of stress and how it impacts students’ overall well being (e.g., psychological, emotional, physical). This workshop will help students identify ways to care for themselves and healthy ways to relieve stress. Overall, this workshop is designed to increase awareness of stressors that impact students and teach healthy ways to respond. Presentation Dates: 01/31/19, 02/21/19, 03/14/19 and 04/04/19
One of the primary aims of this workshop is to help students navigate their relationships (e.g., romantic, friendship, roommate), set boundaries and identify resources (e.g., Counseling Center, Title IX office, Public Safety Office). College is a time of growth and exploration when students learn more about how to form and grow healthy relationships. During this time, students learn about what they like and don’t like. Therefore, it is important to learn how to set boundaries and get help if the relationship is not fulfilling their needs. Presentation Dates: 02/07/19, 02/28/19, 03/21/19 and 04/11/19
Adjusting to the Peaks and Valleys of Life
Change is constant and life consists of highs and lows. The primary aim of this workshop is to help students understand how to cope with these ups and downs. For example, how does one handle all the demands of life while in school (e.g., working, relationships, academic, socializing)? Adjusting to our own circumstances can be difficult no matter what stage of life one is in, and this workshop is designed to help students understand their experiences and provide tools to assist with the successes and failures of life. Presentation Dates: 01/24/19, 02/14/19, 03/07/19, 03/28/19 and 04/18/19
